florida = hot & humid. The record for the hottest it had ever been happened while we were there!

but it was really fun.

I got sunburnt at Cocoa Beach.

and I almost saw a rocket launch at Kennedy Space Center, but they cancelled it two days in a row.

& of course we did the whole theme park thing with Disney World and Universal.

I saw lots of alligators.

We went to the Florida Mall. Which is like 3 X our mall. & it's only on one floor.

it was a fun trip.

^ to be said in a Hitler German accent.
That was one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

We went to the city last week. Just to show around my relatives that are from Iran visiting- Grandma, Uncle, Aunt-in-Law, and little cousin. It was fun. We went to Golden Gate Park & my mom, Lily, and I took one car and parked it on one side of the park, but my dad was with the relatives and he wanted to drop them off at the "entrance" because my Grandma has trouble walking. Soo yeah, we were going to walk to them and meet them. But we didn't know how far it was. So Lily, my mom, and I ended up walking 5 miles to the other side to get there! err. I was really hungry too. Then we finally saw them and we ate lunch. There was a band playing there. And I saw Mr. Nemoyten! He saw me too. I ignored him. He was an awful band teacher. And I mean, getting fired because he had porn on his computer? What a creep. Eww. Then we kind of looked around at the flowers and plants. And we went to the rose garden which was really nice. And of course we saw that bum that was talking out loud to himself. It was so funny when he said the animal thing. I was like laughing out loud. Then we went to Fisherman's Wharf like we always do when we have guests visiting. It was alright. I got some Ghiradelli chocolate there. Tried to get two free samples. But the lady remembered me. And we saw the bushman. wooh.

Anyway, the past weeks have been just giving our relatives the tour of Sonoma County. It's been ok. It's just I'm kind of tired of having them here. I mean, I have to share my room with Lily and she gets my bed half the time! And then my cousin- who's a boy btw -is obsessed with my video games. So I can't really go in my room anymore to play my sax. aagh. And everyone's speaking Farsi except my mom, Lily, and me. I like my relatives, but I feel like I've lost a lot of my freedoms.

But hey, tonight we're leaving on a plane to go to Orlando! WOOOHOOO! Finally a vacation to get away from here. I'm excited. And tomorrow's my birthday! So happy 14th to me! =)

matzah, mah homie!  (pronounce the h in homie with the same gargly noise as hannukah)  now that's eliza and me being 'gangsta.'  ha.ha.ha.

woooootity woot woot!  it's been a fun summer so far.

Monday: babysitting lily all day because my mom started her job.  it was boring, and I felt really sick

Tuesday: much better because I got a good sleep and it was my dad's day off.  he took us out to lunch and we did some shopping.  then I went to my sax lesson where I figured out what I'm going to be doing this summer sax-wise.

Wednesday: I felt kind of tired, but it was alright because it was my dad's day off and we went to the ocean.  It was sunny and the water was really pretty.  Plus... I got to drive again!  It was fun.  I just drove in circles around and around this boat launching parking lot.  But there were these weird old people and the old guy pointed at me while I was driving.  I drove around that parking lot perfectly near the end... I had gentle stops, I signaled, and I didn't go way too slow.  But near the end we stopped to take a break, and then I started driving again.  My dad yelled at me to park and I had no idea why.  There was a police car right across the parking lot!!!!  I bet that old guy called the police.  Anyway, luckily we were parked kind of behind a boat so I don't think the police person saw me stealthfully sneak out of the driver seat.  It was kind of nerve-wracking though.  Then he left... it was a close call.  hah.  but it was so much fun to drive.  I cannot believe I have more than 1 and a half years until I can even get my learner's permit.

Also... yesterday I borrowed the second Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book from Molly in exchange for her borrowing my copy of Wuthering Heights (which is my favorite book!).  So I finished the second book in less than 24 hours.. it was my second time reading it.  And now I'm reading the 3rd book.  They're page-turners.

ciao..for now!

wow... so much has happened. and it's only the second day of summer vacation.

friday = sleepover w/ lindsey.  it was was fun!  took lil to the school to play where lindsey "flashed the world."  hahah.. and we played w/ the fluff that came out of that giant purple pillow-ish thing

saturday = hanging out w/ eliza.  we swam in lil's pool & then we went to her house and filled up water balloons...hahah that was fun.. tried to slip 'n slide.. and then went in her hot tub

sunday = hung out w/ eliza again.  she came over and we brought the chickens outside on the grass.  hah!  they were so funny.  we went swimming.  then we went to safeway and bought turkey and bread for sandwiches lol.  then we watched 'meet the fockers' cause we decided against the scary movie marathon.

The story of Jason Frank

also, saturday was the day I met Mr. Jason Frank.  he was on our driveway lying there, struggling.  part of his wing was chopped off (he was probably hit by a car and then flew as far as he could).  i took him and sat him on a flower.  lily and i were watching the coccoon that had settled on lily's bike tire for the past month.  we could see it wriggling, trying to get out.  we really wanted to see the butterfly, so we watched it for like an hour.  it still hasn't come out.  back to jason frank, i ended up taking him inside and putting him on the sunflower.  then i researched what butterflies eat, and i remembered that we have a butterfly plant outside that they drink from.  so i took jason frank (j-f, named by jason and lindsey) outside and placed him on the plant.  he blew off a few times, and he was struggling to stay on.  i could tell that he was getting weaker.  i then put him back on the flower (after he fell off a few times) and said goodbye.  this morning we found him dead under the flower.

RIP Mr. Jason Frank (2005-2005)  - butterflies only live for about 2 weeks.  We are going to bury him by Peep.  And Lindsey is making a tombstone.

OMG! I'M SO HAPPY! YES! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

=D =D =D =D =D =D

So there are 2 spots for first chair altos and 3 spots for second chair altos.. I am the 2nd second chair! WOOP! 4th chair in SYMPHONIC! which is PRETTY DARN GOOD considering I'm a freshie! Not even last chair, meaning I am better than 1 high schooler that made it into symphonic band!

YESS! HAH! =D

some words of wisdom: hardwork really DOES pay off!

Anyway, today was pretty awesome. I got the music award from Mrs. Van Noy which made me very happy because I working really hard in band. =) I also got the President's award and the Principal's award!

Then... Jody, Jayshree, and I got a ride from my mom (hah we would never play hookie) and we went downtown. We went to the mall- by the way Jayshree and I got the new Coldplay CD that just got out today called X&Y on sale!! Then we walked around, hung out at Barnes and Nobles and drank starbucks, and ate lunch at the Cantina.  Then we got change at Wolf Coffee (haha) and asked for 'information' at the Snoopy's information booth.  My favorite Charlie Browns are the retro and reggae one.  Then we saw "Monster-in-Law" at the Roxy, which was funny.  It was fun.

Then I went to my A.M. Jazz audition, I think I did well, and I just recently found out that I made it into symphonic (as I said above)!!

I want to go for a run like yesterday.

[ mood | ECSTATIC! & totally relieved! ]
[ music | III La Boumiano <--heh my audition piece ]

Yes yes yes!  The audition went really well!!!!!  =D  I have been worried about this for the past 3 months, practicing it almost constantly (I have it memorized)  I am so happy!!!!

So anyway, I played all 12 major scales and my audition piece accurately.  I know I sped up a tad at the hard part, but I still got it accurate.  Mr. Collinsworth said he remembered me from Yakity Sax and conducting and the ensemble.  He said I did really well and that I'll become a great musician!!  :D  He also said that the saxophone I am playing is the bottom-of-the-line student horn- good for inexperienced players, and that I should get a professional saxophone- Yamaha 62 or a Yanigasawa 991!!  He also asked me what mouthpiece I was playing on, and I told him how I'm still playing on the stock mouthpiece that came with my Yamaha 23 and how Ari and I are going to look into getting me a new mouthpiece this summer.  He also asked about my reed, and I explained to him how my cane wasn't ready cause I oversoaked it when I started it two days ago, and how my fibracell wasn't playing low E very clearly so I went with the plastic Bari reed.  Oh yeah, he also said I should start learning vibratto because all good saxophonists can play it.  He said that if I don't make it it is not because I'm not good enough (he said I was really great!!) it is just because it is really hard to get into the sax section because pretty much all the spots are taken up with older players.  He said it kind of comes down to "would you rather be first in concert band with solos, or second in symphonic?"  THANK YOU ARI!

Anyway, I probably will not make it because the sax section is really tight next year, but I'm still ecstatic because what means most to me is knowing I played well and being told by him that I'm a really great musician!!  =D

I'm so happy.

School's almost out. and I have successfully finished my audition.
